Stories

Some of my drawings here for these stories. . . .

L’Etape Australia

L’Etape Australia, by Le Tour de France , was first held in the Snowy Monaro region in 2016, and was held annually in this region until 2019. It was a cycling event held under professional conditions with closed roads, a race and a ride component on a challenging route. It was enthusiastically supported by the local communities of Jindabyne, Berridale and Dalgety.

Great Uncle Bertie

A glimpse into the life of Captain Humphries in the years just before and during the First World War.  He served in Egypt as a Captain in a Light Horse regiment.  He survived the war and returned to Australia and practiced as a surgeon for many years. My drawings are taken from some of his photographs that were too faded to reproduce, Otherwise all the images are his.

Lake Albina Ski Lodge

Lake Albina Ski Lodge was built in 1951 by the Ski Tourers’ Association and demolished in 1983 by the National Parks and wildlife Service. It provided hot and cold running water, a basic but functional bathroom and storeroom downstairs in the rock basement, gas cooking and bunk accommodation.  It was powered by a generator. Many of our most memorable childhood holidays were spent there.
